Of all the weapons that appear in the 6 Star Wars movies the one that most technophobes or aficionados of this series will want is a Lightsaber.  Although over the years toy companies have produced what they considered to be reasonable copies of them.  However this all changed with the introduction of the Star Wars FX Lightsabers.

Certainly for those who like to dress up as the characters from these movies such as Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader and Princess Leia.  Now they have found a weapon that enables to truly take on the role of their favorite character from the films and compete in close combat fights.

However, the Star Wars FX Lightsabers do cost considerably more than those that you may have seen when the first movies came out.  But what you must realize is that not only do these ones look like the real weapons but they sound like them as well.

With the first models that were produced and which are based around the Lightsabers used by Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker and Yoda each one of them has a glowing blade that ignites with the same power up and down effects as seen in the movies.  Also the sound effects that emanate from these are the same authentic sounds heard in the movies as they have been digitally recorded from them.

I’ve been wanting to buy a Force FX lightsaber for quite awhile. I was going to finally buy one back in April of this year, but then I heard that the new version with the removable blade was coming, so I decided to wait.

This is my first Force FX lightsaber. Everything I’ve heard about the quality and fun of these sabers is completely true. Once you pick up the hilt, you can tell that it is an exceptionally well made replica. It has a little bit of weight to it and it feels very durable. One of my favorite features of the Hasbro sabers is the telescopic effect when “igniting” the blade. Many other replica sabers, which are excellent in their own ways, only have an “on or off” lighted blade. The telescoping ignition effect along with the movie accurate sounds make this a fantastic replica lightsaber to own.

The process of exchanging the blade for the emitter is very easy and can be done fairly quickly. Another nice addition is that the display stand has an empty chamber in the back for storing the emitter and belt clip when they aren’t being used.

Overall, this is a terrific product. If you’re debating on whether or not to buy a Force FX lightsaber, you’ll most likely be happy with purchasing one. I know that I am.
